David Earl Weaver, 56, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009.

David was the son of the late Earl O. Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gail Weaver Fox. David was a veteran of the United States Navy.

David was a registered nurse, he had worked for Halifax Regional Medical Center before moving to Virginia Beach where he went to work in the operating room at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

David is survived by his mother, Martha W. Weaver; his sister, Linda W. Britton and his brother, Joe Weaver, all of Roanoke Rapids; his niece, Jenni Wood of Littleton; nephew, Joseph Weaver and his wife, Meredith, of Robersonville; and his great nephew, Cody Wood of Littleton.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fox Family Cemetery, 1262 Airlie Road, Littleton with Rev. Craig Gaither officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 10, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of David’s service to his country.
